Gregg picks up offers

Nansemond River High School senior defensive back Quincy Gregg has a couple of college scholarship offers to his name.
Last week, Gregg picked up an official offer from Chowan University. That offer makes his second, as he also has an offer from UVA-Wise.
“I’m honestly grateful for every single coach that has talked to me throughout the years,” Gregg said. “Coaches are really starting to notice me, and things will start falling in line as long as I have a good season to help myself even more.”
At the college level, caches have been viewing Gregg as a safety or slot corner because of his 6-foot-2-inch, 200-pound frame. Though Gregg is receiving a ton of interest right now, he doesn’t plan to make a decision until after the season is over. He wants to put all of his focus into making sure the Warriors have a strong season.
“I want to make sure my team has a good season,” Gregg said. “We have a lot of weapons. We just have to go out there and do it.”
One piece of advice Gregg has received that has stuck with him is to stay grounded and humble. He approaches all coaches the same, whether it’s a Division I or Division II program.
As a senior, he plans to step into a leadership role for the Warriors this season.
“I’ve been working on my communication,” he said. “When I’m on the field I try to be as vocal as possible. It makes our team better when we are on the same page.”
Nansemond River has had one commit so far in senior Gerard Stringer. Stringer will attend East Carolina University. Gregg could be the next to commit for Nansemond River. Other players have also been receiving interest for the Warriors football team.
