Two people died in a single-vehicle crash in a rural area of the city on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 7900 block of Gates Road and was reported about 12:54 p.m., according to a city press release.

The driver and passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. They were identified as Davis Turner, 68, and Rudolph McCloud, 73, both of Suffolk.

The roadway was closed until 8:20 p.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
