Louise Lawrence Vines

Louise Lawrence Vines (wife of the late Rev. Willie L. Vines), of Brentwood Road, Suffolk, departed this life to claim her eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, while at home.

Louise was born on Dec. 10, 1926, in Nansemond County, to the late Edward and Katie Lawrence. Since returning home from New Jersey, with her husband, she has been a devoted member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Louise was a retired bus driver for the Suffolk City Schools Transportation Department.

Louise is survived by two grandsons, Georges L. Destin (Nicole) and Elder Antoine J. Destin (Stacie); four great-grandsons, Georges Jr., Christopher, Jalen and Caleb; two goddaughters, Wilma Picot and Jewel Shivers; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ms. Vines’ visitation will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m., and a wake service from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc., 405 Johnson Ave., Suffolk. The homegoing service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk, with the pastor, the Rev. William Lang, delivering the eulogy. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
