Floyd Alexander Butts

Floyd Alexander Butts, better known as “Zane”, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017. Floyd was born on Oct. 15, 1925, the third oldest child to John Calvin and Rosetta Butts, in Nansemond County.
Floyd served in the U.S. Army and later relocated to Philadelphia, Pa., where he met and married the love of his life, the late Mae Frances Haynes.
Floyd was employed as a master plasterer at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and for the Laborer’s District Council Construction Industry for the State of Pennsylvania, from which he retired in October 1987.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Beverly Haynes Olds and Lydia Butts, of Philadelphia, Pa.; extended family, Michael Andrews and Gwendolyn Andrews, of Philadelphia, Pa.; two granddaughters, Shanan D. Olds and Ansuja D. Olds, of Philadelphia, Pa.; grandson, Antoine Andrews, of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Alice B. Daniels, of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Joyce Butts, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mr. Butts will lie in state at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Bethlehem Christian Church. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church, and he will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
