Linwood “Bert” Bertram Walton Jr., 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, in his beloved Outer Banks surrounded by his family. Bert was preceded in death by his father, Linwood B. Walton Sr.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and a friend to all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf and enjoying time in the Outer Banks. His kindness and generous spirit will be missed by many.

Bert enjoyed more than two decades working in the golf course industry and was the territory manager for Triangle Chemicals for the past several years, serving customers throughout Virginia and the Outer Banks. He was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Holland Walton; daughters, Heather Baggett and her husband, John, Courtney Pohlit and her husband, D.J.; mother, Dorothy Walton; sister, Lynne Godfrey and her husband, Tom; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Matthew Johnson, with burial following at Holy Neck Christian Church Cemetery.
