Roy E. Wilson Jr.

Roy E. Wilson Jr. 59, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 15, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Wilson Sr. and his wife, Melvenia Roberts Wilson. He is survived by his mother, Barbara C. (Bobbi) Anderson and her husband, Dr. Alvin W. (Andy) Anderson Sr. of Suffolk.

Roy graduated from Marion Senior High School in 1977. He graduated from PAM Trucking School and was a long-distance trucker. He was a faithful member of a local support group and advisor to many. Roy was an avid gun collector and taught gun safety to his family and friends. He was an award-winning bowyer and won many archery tournaments. Roy was a skilled musician and songwriter as well as a passionate motorcycle enthusiast who built and restored antique motorcycles. He was an expert craftsman and a member of Windsor Congregational Christian Church. Roy proudly donated his tumors, at the request of his doctor, to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md., in hope for future research to help other bladder patients fight this very aggressive type of cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Karen M. Wilson; son, Kenneth R. Wilson and wife, Terri, of Shawsville; daughters, Nicole L. McGrady and husband, Stacey, of Marion, Kimberly A. Jones, of Levittown, Pa., and Christine M. Jones, of Naples, Fla.; sisters, Helen D. Holman and husband, Larry, Julia M. Pauley and husband, Brian, all of Marion, and Sheila W. Camacho and husband, Lucio, of Chesterfield; and was preceded in death by his brother, James H. Daniels Jr., of Marion; grandchildren, Matthew J. Jmaiai, Abigail F. McGrady, Jasmine M. Jmaiai, Alyssa D. McGrady, Adam L. McGrady, all of Marion, and Lily G. Eaton, of Levittown, Pa. Roy was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb N. McGrady, of Marion. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Windsor Congregational Christian Church, 4 Court St., Windsor, VA 23487 by Pastor Sam Askew. A reception will be held following the service. The family will receive visitors at the home on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at 3335 Carrsville Highway, Franklin, VA 23851. Flowers may be sent to the church between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the day of the service or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windsor Congregational Christian Church Building Fund.
