Art league seeks work for exhibition

The Suffolk Art League, in conjunction with the Suffolk Art Gallery, will hold its annual Juried Exhibition at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., from Oct. 28 to Dec. 8.
Original works in any medium are eligible. They must not have been previously exhibited at the Suffolk Art Gallery and should have been completed within the last two years.
Works must be delivered to the Suffolk Art Gallery on Oct. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. or on Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artwork may be shipped to arrive no later than Oct. 21. Two-dimensional work must be framed and wired for hanging. There is an entry fee of $15 for Suffolk Art League members or $45 for non-members, which includes an individual membership.
The juror for 2017 is Jeffrey W. Allison, Paul Mellon Collection educator and manager, statewide programs and exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in photography from Virginia Intermont College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has curated numerous exhibitions and teaches advanced photography and the history of photography at the VMFA.
The Suffolk Art League will present more than $2,400 in awards, including a $500 first place award that also includes the opportunity to present a one-person show at the Suffolk Art Gallery in 2018.
