Saints drop homecoming game

Norfolk Academy succeeded in spoiling the Saints’ plans for a homecoming win on Friday.
With the 35-20 loss, the Saints’ three-game win streak was snapped, putting them at 3-4 on the season.
Norfolk Academy is among one of the best teams in the VISAA Division-I poll. The weather did seem to play a factor for both sides at certain times, but the Norfolk team proved to execute better than Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
“We did not play up to our potential,” Biehl said. “I give credit to NA. They have a good team, and the coaches do a good job with them.”
Both teams stalled out on the scoreboard in the first quarter. NSA got on the board first in the second quarter with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Robby Tew to Zac Morris. Norfolk scored four touchdowns straight between the second and third quarter.
The Saints had a strong fourth quarter push for a comeback, but it was not enough. Robby Tew had two touchdowns for the Saints, one rushing and one passing. The Saints also didn’t make any of their extra points. Biehl believes that his team will be able to shake off this loss as they prepare for their next opponent.
“Anytime we do not execute the way we should, that is on me,” Biehl said. “I’m going to improve as a coach and do all I can to help this team try to make a late push for the playoffs.”
NSA will take on Greenbrier Christian Academy on the road next Friday.
