To the editor:
As Suffolk’s elected commissioner of the revenue, Susan Draper has earned our trust.
We trust Susan to treat all citizens fairly and equally.
We trust Susan, a certified public accountant with 16 years of experience, to accurately assess all taxes her office administers, supporting the city’s high bond rating, schools and public safety.
We trust Susan to provide leadership and a strong voice in managing the citizens’ affairs — every day — in the administration of Suffolk’s local government.
We trust Susan to reach out and give a hand up to those who deserve and need her assistance, including tax relief for disabled veterans, free assistance with state income tax returns, high-mileage tax relief for those who qualify, and going the extra mile by serving citizens at a second office, alongside the treasurer’s office, at the North Suffolk Library.
As your elected treasurer, I trust Susan to provide the same high level of taxpayer and community service with the latest services and technology that I have insisted on from the treasurer’s office for the last 36 years.
For all these reasons that we trust Susan Draper as our elected commissioner of the revenue, I enthusiastically endorse her re-election.
Susan has also earned the trust, and is endorsed by, Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Phil Ferguson, Clerk of the Circuit Court Randy Carter, Sheriff E.C. Harris, former Commissioner of the Revenue Thomas Hazelwood, our police and firefighter unions, as well as State Senators Tommy Norment, John Cosgrove and Lionell Spruill and Delegates Chris Jones and Cliff Hayes.
Please join me in voting for Susan Draper on Nov. 7. She has earned out trust!
Ronald H. Williams
Treasurer
City of Suffolk
