Two delegates run unopposed

Two House of Delegates representatives are running unopposed for re-election this year.
Matthew James is running for re-election in the 80th District, while Chris Jones is running in the 76th District.
James has been a member of the House of Delegates since 2010. His district includes parts of Suffolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Norfolk.
He is assigned to the Health, Welfare and Institutions; Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources; and Appropriations committees.
James is president and chief executive officer of the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Hampton University and Northwestern University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration.
Jones has been a member of the House of Delegates since 1998. His district includes parts of Suffolk and Chesapeake.
He is chair of the House Appropriations Committee and also serves on the Privileges and Elections and Rules committees.
Jones owns Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy on Bridge Road and attended Randolph-Macon College and Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy.
Jones is also a former mayor and member of Suffolk City Council, where he served for 12 years from 1986 to 1998.
