Willie Bailey Watson, 91, of the 200 block of North Sixth Street, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. He was born on March 26, 1926, to the late Grover Cleaver Watson and Lula Whitaker-Watson in Bertie, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosa Lee Bryant and Elsie Porter; and one brother, John C. Watson.

Mr. Watson is survived by his daughter, Brenda A. Rountree; devoted nieces, Genella Bryant-Johnson and Faye McLaurin (Mario); three grandchildren, William C. Rountree Jr. (Lucy), Kerry D. Rountree and Tiffany S. Rountree; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Mable and Margaret; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Watson’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel, and he will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
