Helen Virginia Nichols, 96, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Kindred Care Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Sept. 12, 1921, in Nansemond County, to the late Dora Reed.

A native of Suffolk, Helen attended Suffolk Public Schools and later retired from Planters Peanuts Company after 25 years of dedicated service.

She preceded in death by her husband, George Nichols Sr.; daughters, Beulah Vinson, Virginia Edwards and Virgie Johnson; and a son, George Nichols Jr.

Helen is survived by three daughters, Annie J. Myrick, Mary E. Harrell (Lynn) and Sereta M. Hoggard (Elmer); three sons, Alfred Nichols, Joel Nichols (Brenda) and Edward L. Nichols; sister, Daisy Chapman; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ms. Nichols’ visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A service of triumph will take place at noon Friday at Sweet Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, and she will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
