Mamie Beamon-Rountree

Mamie Beamon-Rountree, 77, affectionately known as “Sis,” passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. She was born on Nov. 29, 1939, in Nansemond County, to the late Mamie Butts-Beamon and Louis Norman Beamon. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Henry A. Beamon.

Mamie attended East Suffolk High School. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board and Beautification Club and sung in the Senior Choir.

Mamie leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory, her husband, Wallace L. “Pete” Rountree; daughter, Sonja R. Stevenson (Andre Sr.); grandson, Andre C. Stevenson Jr. (Tamea); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Rountree’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. and the family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home. A funeral will take place at noon on Thursday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
