The Tidewater Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is accepting monetary donations for National Wreaths Across America Day this December.
Wreaths Across America will coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies on Dec. 16 at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,200 additional locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad, according to wreathsacrossamerica.org.
The non-profit organization works year-round to remember and honor military men and women, along with their families. Scouts and other children are also educated through the laying of wreaths, according to Col. Dean Gould, Virginia Wing Commander with Civil Air Patrol.
“We want to bring the youth to help lay the wreaths and show them the importance of serving,” Gould said. “We’re training the youth for the future and honoring those who serve.”
