To the editor:

The photo by Alex Perry in your Dec. 2 edition, which showed Santa getting a beard trim from East Washington Street barber Lester Beamon, was refreshing and fun.

The holiday spirit of Santa and his barber, captured in their festive exchange, helps remind children and adults of Christmas joy, laughter, brotherhood and goodwill. Showing Santa exchanging with a local business/community partner was also significant.

The photo was in the true spirit of Christmas and demonstrates the warmth that should embrace the traditional love and celebration of the holiday season. Above all, it was an example of the peace, joy and lightheartedness that the Christ-child brings.
