The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office responded on Monday morning to an industrial accident that killed a construction worker.
The accident was reported about 10:30 a.m., according to Lt. Tommy Potter. It happened at the Benn’s Grant subdivision project near the intersections of routes 32 and 258.
A contractor was working to build a new road near the rear of the property, Potter said. He said an embankment gave way and a tractor rolled over onto the man who was operating it.
The deceased man has been identified as Kenneth Boggs, 65, of King George, Potter said. He worked for William T. Cantrell Inc.
Potter said the sheriff’s office has completed its part of the investigation, and Virginia Occupational Safety and Health will continue the investigation.
