Marie Louise Peete-Jones

Marie Louise Peete-Jones entered into eternal rest and peace Dec. 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 22, 1933, in Nansemond County, to the late Robert A. and Georgie A. Peete. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Peete and Robert Fulton Peete; sister, Hattie Mae Cotton; daughter, Gloria Jean Murphy; and great-granddaughter, Crystal C. Manley.

She retired from Kindred Transitional Care—Nansemond Pointe, and she was a dedicated and faithful employee of Autumn Care of Suffolk nursing home.

She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the usher ministry.

Marie leaves to cherish precious memories, one daughter; Dell P. Holland (Calvin S.), of Suffolk; one son-in-law, James Murphy Jr., of Trenton, N.J.; grandchildren, Stacey A. Manley (Clarence), of Suffolk; devoted granddaughter, Catina H. Beasely, of Suffolk; Dexter Murphy, (Samantha Johnson), Tracey Murphy, Angela Murphy, Stephanie Murphy (Enrique Thorpe), and James Murphy III, all from Trenton, N.J.; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Peete’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and the family will receive guests at 1220 Lake Kennedy Drive at all other times. A funeral will take place at noon on Saturday at the funeral home chapel, and she will be entombed at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
