Charlie Edward Armstrong

Charlie Edward Armstrong entered in the arms of God for eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center—Nansemond Pointe. He was born on March 17, 1931, in Southampton County to the late Gertrude Debro Armstrong and John Armstrong. In addition, he was predeceased by his lifetime companion, Doris N. Riddick; grandmother, Annie Debro Futrell; four brothers, Arthur Debro, John Armstrong, Bishop Paul Armstrong and Roosevelt Armstrong; and two sisters, Edith Armstrong Thorpe and Eva Armstrong.

He attended Paul’s Temple Holiness Church during founding years.

Charlie leaves to cherish and ponder memories, two nieces, Elder Gigi (Elder William E.) Armstrong Golden and Ellen Armstrong Demary; one nephew, Minister ToShan (Christine) Armstrong, who all were his caregivers; nieces, Annie Armstrong and Mary Bryant; nephews, Kenneth (Dorothy) Armstrong Sr., Arthur (Janet) Thorpe and Bobby Riddick; and a host of more nieces, great-nieces, and great-great-nieces, as well as, nephews, great-nephews and great-great-nephews; and a multitude of loving neighbors and friends.

Mr. Armstrong’s visitation will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. A homegoing celebration service will take place at noon Monday at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church, and he will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
