Police investigate bank robbery

Suffolk police are investigating a robbery that happened Tuesday afternoon.

According to a city press release, the robbery was reported at 4:56 p.m. at the Chartway Federal Credit Union in the 1400 block of North Main Street.

Preliminary investigation found that a male suspect entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He did not display a weapon, the press release stated.

The man fled with an undetermined amount of currency. No one was injured.

The man is described as black, about 30 to 40 years old, wearing dark clothing and a surgical mask.
