Police seek suspect in robbery attempt

Suffolk police are investigating an attempted commercial robbery that happened Friday morning at a North Suffolk bank.

The incident happened at the Chartway Federal Credit Union in the 3500 block of Bridge Road, according to a city press release. It was reported at 10:46 a.m.

A male suspect reportedly entered the business and provided a note to the clerk demanding money, according to a city press release. When they clerk didn’t give him anything, the suspect took his note back and fled the scene. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 50 years of age, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a white dust/surgical mask covering his mouth and nose.

Police believe this incident may be linked to a robbery that occurred on Dec. 19 at the Chartway Federal Credit Union in the 1400 block of North Main Street, the city press release stated.

That suspect was also described as wearing a surgical mask.
