On Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, Katherine Wilkins Powell, 74, of Suffolk, went to be with the Lord. She was born in Suffolk on Oct. 31, 1943. She is predeceased by her parents, Thomas Earl Wilkins and Edith Boyce Wilkins; husband of 55 years, William “Rufus” Powell; and siblings, Charles Wilkins, Frances Wilkins Saunders and Barbara Wilkins Brandon.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Rufus Powell Jr. and Kathleen; daughter and son-in-law, Susan P. Roberts and Dale; grandchildren, Alex Powell, Allan Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Lauren Iversen and Anna Powell; several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Katherine was a retiree from Lipton Tea Company and dedicated to her family and church. She was a member of the Joyce Ann Harrell Sunday School Class and Bethlehem Christian Church.

A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Bethlehem Christian Church with the Rev. Matt Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.
