The Bulldogs boys’ basketball team swept the season series with Indian River High School with a win Tuesday.

Bulldogs coach Rick Hite felt Tuesday night was the best he has seen his team play since its game against Deep Creek High School. There were so many things he believed they did well.

“We were locked in against a really good Indian River team,” Hite said. “They are just relentless in the way they attack you. We made mistakes and missed shots, but we stayed connected. Up 10 or down 10, we as coaches always preach staying connected, and I think we did a good job of that.”

Hite liked how his team remained strong in the midst of adversity in the team’s 70-66 win. It was a tough road atmosphere, and the Bulldogs were able to keep their composure. James Hatton led the way again for the Bulldogs with 27 points and 11 rebounds with four steals in back-to-back 25-plus point efforts.

“I put a lot of pressure on James,” Hite said. “We all know he can score, but I challenge him to be an all-around player and a leader, and every day he is getting better at it. I’m proud of the way he has been playing.”

Darrius Wilson added eight points and 16 rebounds. Leontre Bailey had an all-around game for the Bulldogs.

Hite likes where his team is at this point of the season. He believes the Bulldogs have a chance to do something special.

“Everyone really truly starts to buy in around this time of your season,” he said. “Now, you just have to stay the course. If we do that, then we have a chance. All you need is a chance.”

King’s Fork will take on Hickory High School on the road today at 7 p.m.
