A new spot for great sandwiches is coming to North Suffolk with a clever name and a creative twist on the lunch experience.

Suffolk’s first Which Wich Superior Sandwiches restaurant is expected to open for business around Feb. 19 at 1011 University Blvd., according to owner and franchisee Bijal Patel in a phone interview.

Which Wich customers order sandwiches by taking a Sharpie to labeled bags for their own custom sandwiches, or simply marking one of the popular sandwich styles. Salads and spinach wraps are also available, along with milkshakes and cookies.

“Everyone has to have a great sandwich,” said Which Wich Superior Sandwiches Area Director Chad Todd in a phone interview. “We really strive to bring things to customers that they can make their way and aren’t typical sandwiches that you get at other places.”

Patel said the atmosphere of the restaurant is half of the experience. The colorful décor, friendly staff, radio and free Wi-Fi add to the fast-casual dining experience.

Customers can write whatever names on the bags they wish to hear when their orders are ready, and doodlers can draw on their bags to hang in the store’s art gallery.

“The most important part of being in a Which Wich is the vibe you feel,” Patel said, adding that you if you spend 15 to 20 minutes in the store, then it should be “the best 15 to 20 minutes of your entire day.”

Which Wich was founded in 2003 by restaurant entrepreneur Jeff Sinelli in Dallas, Texas. The company won the 2015 MenuMasters Award for Healthful Innovations, and currently has 500 locations open or in development in 39 states and 12 countries.

The Suffolk location will seat 58 indoors and 20 on the patio. The restaurant will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
