There is no tsunami threat for the East Coast, the National Weather Service said on Tuesday morning.

The statement came after some third-party apps took the National Weather Service’s normal, monthly tsunami test message and disseminated it as real, the service’s Wakefield office said on its Facebook page.

The mistake gained ridicule on social media, especially following last month’s mistaken nuclear missile threat alert sent to residents of Hawaii.
