Avis Linnell Shumaker, 95, passed away Feb. 12, 2018, at Lake Prince Woods Retirement Center in Suffolk.

Avis was born and raised in Portsmouth and was an English teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth until her retirement. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends and former students.
