A trio of accomplished performers will bring their hilarious takes on race, family, relationships and life to a weekend audience in Suffolk.

The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts will host The Blackpack’s “All Laughs Matter” standup special at 8 p.m. this Saturday. Comedians Vince Morris, B.T. and Billy Washington will engage the audience with material that chips away at racial stereotypes and prejudice with a sense of humor.

The three men have been featured on HBO, Comedy Central, B.E.T. and other major cable networks. They’ve played at venues across the country and internationally.

But despite nearly 30 years in comedy, B.T. said bringing their show to Suffolk stills feels like a thrilling opportunity to get on stage once again with two of his favorite people.

“I love working in new venues and getting together with the guys,” he said. “We’re able to see each other and work together. It’s like those comics with the Justice League getting together. I love these guys.”

According to suffolkcenter.org, The Blackpack has received fantastic reviews for their comedy routines, which are described as just edgy enough but not too far. Their humor is smart, and new jokes are expected to be flying freely, B.T. said.

Their acts have often featured question-and-answer portions that let the audience learn more about the lives of these performers. He said he enjoys exposing audiences to stark differences between his experiences and theirs, then reaching across those gaps.

“I hope it just comes through as honest,” he said. “I hope they see it, like it, have a good time and maybe learn a little bit.”

His own background challenges black stereotypes, as he was born and raised in Oklahoma and refers to himself as “a black redneck with a rock star attitude,” according to his biography page on admireentertainment.com.

“I’m one of the few in public that likes rock and roll and NASCAR, and if I wasn’t in entertainment I’d be a race car driver,” he laughed. “We’ve got something for everybody.”

Above all, the three are looking to deliver a night of positivity and optimism with laugh-out-loud antics.

“We’re going to see if this rock-and-roll comedy circus is going to work in Suffolk,” he said with a laugh.

Tickets are $25, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit suffolkcenter.org or call 923-0003 for tickets and more information.
