NSA shuts out Southampton

The Lady Saints softball team won its first game of the season 10-0 at home Wednesday afternoon.
Reese Byrd pitched a shutout as the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team started off on the right foot. They hosted Southampton High School, and Byrd allowed just two hits on the day, earning her first pitching victory of the new year.
he fifth inning for the Lady Saints pretty much put the game out of reach for Southampton. Gabby Infranco hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the fifth inning, which is her first of the season. They scored five runs in the second inning.
NSA totaled 11 hits for the game, and Addy Greene led the way with three runs scored and went 2-3 with three more runs batted in. Madi Wilson was 2-3 with two RBIs.
The Lady Saints will take on Southampton Academy at 4 p.m. Friday at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex in Richmond.
