Suffolk Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a police officer that occurred this morning in the 3300 block of Bridge Road, according to a city press release.

While the officer was providing assistance to a stranded motorist, his vehicle, with emergency equipment activated, was struck by another vehicle, the press release stated.

The officer suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer was not injured and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.
