An Illinois man has been arrested after police say he caused an accident involving a police officer early Sunday.

Travis Winston Buchanon, 37, of Zion, Ill., is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a city press release.

The crash occurred at 12:24 a.m. in the 3300 block of Bridge Road, according to the press release. The officer was providing assistance to a stranded motorist. He was sitting inside his vehicle, with its emergency equipment activated, when it was struck.

The officer suffered minor injuries, according to the release. Buchanon was not injured.
