The camp will help attendees improve ball handling, passing and defensive abilities while also increasing confidence and shooting percentage.
“We want to help teach kids to be leaders,” Porter said. “We work on a lot of fundamental things and team drills as well. The name of the camp is the Most Valuable Packer camp, and I want them to be able to see themselves in uniform years from now. I want them to know that you can be an MVP, but you’re going to have to put in the work.”
Every kid will receive some type of an award, and there will also be awards given for winners of different contests, such as a free throw competition and dribbling relay.
The MVP camp with be for boys and girls ages 6-13 and will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Onsite registration will be required in payments of cash or money order. Porter and others will be at Smithfield from noon to 2 p.m. April 2 for onsite registration and will also have onsite registration the following day, which is the first day of the camp.
