Florine Colbert Cooper, 85, of 900 block of Truman Road, Suffolk, transitioned Thursday, March 22, 2018, at her residence. She is the daughter of the late John Thomas Colbert and Annie Taylor Colbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gilbert Cooper; three brothers and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Cooper was a native of Suffolk. She retired from Portsmouth Naval Hospital after 29 years as a nurse. She was a faithful member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and was affiliated with several organizations.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Beverly Jackson (Clarence), Deborah Sanford (Jeff) and Clarice Anderson (Gerald Sr.); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Patricia Myers (Willie) and Gwendolyn Cooper; two nieces; and a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Dr. Robert L. Hobbs will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
