Doris Lanier Lilley, 91, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family and friends on March 24, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Ruth E. and Harrison Lassiter and preceded in death by her husband, James Percival Lilley.

She was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the life of the church. Dot was the matriarch of the Lilley Farm, and she had a great love for her family. For many years, she taught Sunday school at Centenary United Methodist Church and was very active in the PTA while her boys were in school.

Dot is survived by her sons, James Robert Lilley and wife, Kathleen Tanner, of Suffolk, Jerry Lee Lilley and wife, Carolyn Isaac, of Chesapeake, and Larry Thomas Lilley, of Suffolk; grandchildren, James Jesse Lilley, Jay Tanner Lilley, Anna Elizabeth Lilley, Jessica Dare Reber, Lena Martine Lilley and Lauren Lilley; and great-grandchildren, Pressley Ross Lilley and Justine Ray Reber.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk. The Rev. Lynn Hundley will officiate. The burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
