IWA bests NSA

The Saints dropped a three-point game to Isle of Wight Academy Thursday afternoon.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy baseball team went on the road Thursday afternoon to face IWA and fell 7-4. IWA got things started first as they took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Kieran Conway tied the game up for NSA at the top of the second. IWA piled on six runs in the fourth inning to push their lead to 7-1; however NSA could not close the gap.

Colby Owens and Caden Anselm handled pitching duties for the Saints, with Anselm taking the loss. Zac Morris went 2-4 with one RBI, while Anselm went 1-3 with a run scored. Conway, Jared Hawkins and Anselm each recorded a stolen base.

NSA will look to get back on track against Norfolk Collegiate at Azalea Park at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Saints are 3-4.
