Following are this week’s nominees for the Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

• Matt Culbert, senior, Nansemond River High School baseball: Culbert went 2-3 with a run, three RBIs and a homerun in the Warriors’ win over Indian River High School.
• Alex Kinsey, senior, Lakeland High School softball: Kinsey had a walkoff single that drove in the game-winning runs to defeat Great Bridge High School.
• Shamond Smith, junior, King’s Fork High School track and field: Smith placed first with a time of 4:35 in the 1,600-meter run for the Bulldogs in the first Southeastern District outdoor meet.
