Warriors drop one in S.C.

The Warriors baseball team dropped its first matchup in the Hanahan Invitational Tournament.

Nansemond River High School baseball team is in South Carolina competing in the tournament, which includes 32 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The Warriors took on South Forsyth High School Monday and took a 17-8 loss.

South Forsyth ran off with a big lead in the early innings, going up as many as 9-2 against the Warriors. From there, they controlled the rest of the game despite a late push from the Warriors.

Tristian Williams, Zach Cain and Sam Wolfe handled pitching duties, with Williams taking the loss. Dezmen Howard went 2-4 with three RBIs. Jarrett Mayer went 3-4 with one run and one RBI.
