Evans to compete in PIT

Shannon Evans II is set to compete in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament this week.
The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is a pre-draft camp that includes the top senior college basketball prospects in the country. The tournament starts Wednesday and will go all the way until Saturday. NBA and overseas scouts come and watch some of the top senior prospects in their preparation for the NBA draft or a career overseas.
Evans, a Suffolk native, was invited and will look to improve on his draft stock prior to the draft in June. Six players that competed in the PIT last year were selected in the NBA draft, and there have been those who before last year who had been selected as well.
Evans is coming off of his senior season at Arizona State University, where he averaged 16.8 points per game to go along with 3.8 assists while helping lead ASU to the NCAA tournament. In his two years at ASU after transferring from Buffalo, he compiled 1,023 points. At Buffalo, he earned All-MAC honors.
In his time at Nansemond River High School, he helped the Warriors to a 22-4 record while earning postseason honors.
General admission for games will be $10. There will be two games Wednesday at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. All games will be played at Churchland High School.
