Lady Saints double wins against JAHHS

The Lady Saints softball team defeated John A. Holmes High School in a double-header on Saturday.

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team had its Pink Day when they hosted John A. Holmes. The first matchup between the two teams resulted in a 15-5 win for NSA. A couple of hours later in the second game, the Lady Saints won 9-2.

In the first game, Madi Wilson was active for NSA. She went 2-4 with three runs and added a double and three stolen bases. Anni Groves stole two bases as NSA totaled eight as a team. Addy Greene had two triples. Reese Byrd was the winning pitcher in the first matchup.

In the second matchup, Emerson Puzey handled most of the pitching duties and earned the pitching win as she struck out nine. Greene went 3-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a triple. Wilson went 2-4 with two runs and an RBI with two doubles.

NSA will prepare for a highly anticipated matchup against Greenbrier Christian Academy at home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The teams rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association softball poll.
