The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ soccer team is sitting in a prime position right before the postseason starts. In the most recent Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II poll, the Lady Saints were ranked No. 2.
The ranking is the highest the team has seen in recent seasons, and the coach and players are happy about it. NSA has a chance to go into the playoffs, hosting games all the way up until the state semifinals or finals.
Coach James Michael Dick is excited about where his team is at the moment and believes his players are playing their best soccer at the right time. Of course, the Lady Saints don’t want to be satisfied with where they are right now. They want to keep striving to be better.
Senior Abby Herrod, leading scorer of the team, feels like this year could be the year for the Lady Saints to accomplish something great.
“I feel super pumped about this team,” she said. “We have our eyes set on a state ring and so far, it doesn’t seem anything will get in our way.”
