Gary Wayne Spencer, 75, passed away May 4, 2018. He was born in Evansville, Ind., the son of the late Valorous Leroy Spencer and Jean Yates Spencer. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, having served for 21 years. He later went on to work and retire as truck driver. Gary was a lifetime member of the VFW in Jonesboro, Ga., and later in Franklin.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Beverly Hamlin; son, Gregory Spencer; grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Dylan and Tyler; brother, James Spencer; nephew, Larry Spencer; and niece, Connie Ballentine.

A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Cormany officiating.
