Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened on Saturday and believe the suspect may also have committed another recent robbery.
The newest robbery was reported at 7:41 p.m. at the Rite Aid in the 1500 block of Holland Road, according to a city press release. Preliminary investigation found that a suspect entered the business, selected merchandise and approached a store clerk. While speaking to the clerk, the suspect presented a knife and demanded money, but no money was taken, the press release stated.
The man left with the merchandise, which he didn’t pay for, and walked on foot toward the McDonald’s parking lot next door, the press release stated. He left the area in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle.
There were no injuries.
The suspect was described as a black male, about 6 feet tall, wearing dark-colored clothing and a large straw hat.
Police believe the suspect is the same person as the one wanted for the armed robbery of the Dollar General in the 200 block of Wilroy Road on Thursday.
That robber also selected merchandise and approached a clerk, then displayed a knife and demanded cash. He was wearing a yellow hard hat, black sunglasses, navy blue coveralls with black and white patches on the chest and yellow reflective tape on the arms.
