Lakeland drops second IR matchup

Lakeland High School baseball lost its season matchup to Indian River High School Tuesday night at home.

The Cavs took a 5-1 loss. Lakeland actually had the lead for most of the game. They were up 1-0 for the first four innings until Indian River was finally able to get on the board. Both teams were tied at 1-1 through the seventh inning and had to go an eighth inning.

Indian River scored four runs in the eighth inning to put away the Cavs. Cody Anderson went 3-4 for Lakeland and had the team’s only run of the game. Anderson also added a double and also had pitching duties on the evening. He was credited for the loss.

Lakeland will host Wilson High School at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
