Saints fall in semifinals

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ lacrosse team lost in the state semifinals Friday afternoon.
The Saints matched up with North Cross School at Randolph-Macon College for a chance at the state championship game. NSA took a 11-7 loss in a hard-fought effort.
North Cross jumped out to an early 6-1 lead before the Saints were able to fight back and cut the lead down to one, as both teams went into halftime with NCS up 6-5.
NCS continued to build on their lead, but NSA never fell out of reach. They ended the third period down 9-7. NSA was unable to score in the fourth period as NCS went on to win the game. Eli Dowd led the team with three goals.
NSA enjoyed a nice season that saw the team finish in the final four in the state tournament while also finishing with a winning record on the year.
