A juvenile male was charged with reckless handling of a firearm the morning of May 22 after being removed from a school bus at John Yeates Middle School.
The shooting incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. May 18 in the 1300 block of Teton Circle, and Suffolk Police responded to the residence after a call for service four days later, according to a press release.
There were no injuries, and the juvenile was the only one home during the incident, according to the release.
During the investigation, Suffolk Police responded to John Yeates along with school administrators to remove the student from the bus due to the nature of the reported incident, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.
“As an added measure of security, all students on that bus and their belongings were checked for the possession of any inappropriate items,” Principal Dr. Wendy VanHosen said in a letter to parents.
A weapon was not located with the student on the bus, and the investigation is still ongoing.
