The Suffolk Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that took place Wednesday morning at the Murphy USA gas station.
Emergency Communications received a call at approximately 6:47 a.m. that a robbery had just occurred in the 1200 block of North Main Street, according to a city press release.
A black male demanded money from the clerk after approaching the check-out counter with a knife, the release stated. After receiving an undetermined amount of money, the subject left the scene on foot through the Walmart parking lot.
According to the press release, the subject was described as about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall and anywhere from 180 to 200 pounds.
He was described as wearing a dark colored jacket with dark pants, dark shoes and a dark-colored knit hat.
The description is similar to other recent robberies, but police do not know if the cases are related.
“While the descriptions are similar, we cannot say with any certainty that it is the same person,” city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.
There were no injuries during the robbery, and an investigation remains ongoing.
