Amazing Peanut Chase set for June

Teams will look high and low this June for the third annual Amazing Peanut Chase with a twist of local history.
The city-wide scavenger will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 and will pit teams against one another to solve puzzles, find clues across the city and post photos of their team on Facebook and other social media.
Teams will meet at the Chuckatuck Library between 11 and 11:30 a.m. to pick up their packets, each with clues to 11 different locations throughout the city. Library Services Coordinator Shawna LoMonaco said that each location this year will have interesting history in the community.
“There are going to be some locations that even the biggest ‘Suffolkian’ doesn’t know,” LoMonaco said in a phone interview Friday.
They will collect colored Styrofoam peanuts at the locations or take pictures to upload on Facebook with the hashtag #AmazingPeanutChase. Some of these locations could be recent additions to the city, LoMonaco said.
The teams will return to Chuckatuck Library by 2:30 p.m. for pizza, drinks and a raffle for prize baskets. Teams will receive raffle tickets for each location they discover.
“The more locations you complete, the more chances you have to win a basket,” she said.
Pre-registration isn’t required but can be done online. Anyone is welcome to sign up at Chuckatuck Library the day of the event, and each year typically draws 40 to 50 teams, LoMonaco said.
“I think they love exploring new locations through the city, but I think what they love the most is spending time with their family and friends as they travel the city, follow the clues and end with an afterparty,” LoMonaco said.
