Team WAR wins another regional championship

The Nansemond River High School girls’ track and field team took first place at the Class 5 Region A meet last weekend at Gloucester High School.

Team WAR scored 139 points as a team to win another regional championship. They had nine first-place finishes.

Kori Carter took first place in three events. Carter placed first in the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump. Asia Crocker took first in the 200-meter dash. Brene Donaldson took first in the 100-meter dash with a personal record of 11.95.

Tre’Breh Scott-McKoy finished second right behind Carter in the 100-meter hurdles. Scott-McKoy also took first in the high jump and the 400-meter dash.

The 4×100 relay team of Kayla Morris, Asia Crocker, Skylar Parks and Brene Donaldson took first place. Overall, it was another day at the office for Team WAR as they are now in championship season.

The boys’ team came in fourth place. Daiqwuan Faircloth took first place in 110-meter hurdles and second in the 400-meter dash. The 4×400 relay team of Faircloth, Christian Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Jacari Jennings finished first.

Nansemond River will look to bring home another outdoor state championship this weekend at Todd Stadium in Newport News. Team WAR took home the Class 5 indoor state championship during the winter.
