Atwood selected to national lacrosse academy
Coleman Atwood, son of Brian and Stephanie Atwood, a rising seventh-grader at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, has been named as a 2018 Maverik National Lacrosse All-Star and has been selected to attend the Maverik National Lacrosse Academy to be held July 16-19 in Frederica, Del., at the DE Turf Sportsplex.
The Maverik National Lacrosse Academy brings the top youth lacrosse players in the United States and Canada to one venue, where regional teams, coached by NCAA lacrosse coaches, compete to become the 2018 National Champion.
The Maverik National Lacrosse Academy is a first-of-its-kind lacrosse experience created to provide a curriculum focused on how a young lacrosse athlete should develop in order to compete at a top high school and collegiate lacrosse program.
Coleman plays locally for V3 Select 2024 coached by Mark Kimener, which is currently ranked seventh in the country for its age group. He recently won the team’s Red Hard Hat Award for his play at the Trilogy Rider Lacrosse Classic in Rider, N.J.
V3 Select 2024 hopes to bring home a national title when they play for the U.S. lacrosse 12U team championship Aug. 2-5 in Frederica.
