Schools make administrative changes

Garrick Rhoads has been named as the new principal at Mack Benn Jr. Elementary School for the new school year.

Rhoads is coming from Elephant’s Fork Elementary School, where he was the assistant principal since 2015. He has also served in the same capacity at Nansemond Parkway Elementary School for a year. Prior to serving in an administrative role, Rhoads was a teacher at Mack Benn Jr. Elementary for 13 years.

Rhoads received his bachelor’s degree from Radford University and a master’s degree from Regent University.

Rhoads is replacing David LeFevre, who will now be the coordinator of student services for Suffolk Public Schools.

LeFevre was the principal at Mack Benn for five years and has also worked in Virginia Beach, Loudon County and Martinsburg, W.Va. LeFevre earned a bachelor’s degree from Shepherd College and a master’s degree from West Virginia University.

Corey Hamlin will fill the position as assistant principal at Elephant’s Fork.
