One displaced in fire

One person was displaced in a residential structure fire on Thursday evening in the 2800 block of North Nansemond Drive.

The fire was reported at 6:19 p.m., and the first units arrived on scene at 6:25, according to a city press release.

Firefighters found flames showing from the front windows and front door of the residence when they arrived, the press release stated.

No one was home when firefighters arrived, but one adult resident will be displaced. The fire was restricted to two rooms of the residence, but there is severe smoke damage throughout.

The fire was called under control at 6:44 p.m., the press release stated.

The rehab unit responded due to the extreme temperatures firefighters experienced; however, there were no injuries.

The Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
