Constance Mitchell

On the dawn of Sunday morning, July 29, 2018, at approximately 2:40 a.m., God called home one of our own, Constance Mitchell. Constance was born on Aug. 6, 1941, in Nansemond County to the late William Daughtrey and Jessie Whitaker Daughtrey Langston.

Constance attended Booker T. Washington High School. She worked 25 years at several hospitals throughout Hampton Roads. Her last nursing tenure was as a director of nursing at Brent-lox Nursing Facility for some years and William T. Hall Nursing Facility for some three odd years as director of nursing. She worked in the medical field of nursing and retired after 31 years as a director of nursing at the Brent-lox Nursing Center and William T. Hall Nursing Facility.

She leaves to cherish her memories: four children, William (Pig) Mitchell of Suffolk, Mrs. Monica Bradley (Alton), of Portsmouth, Ms. Carrie (Diane) Mitchell, of Suffolk, and Benjamin M. Mitchell, of Suffolk; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Ms. Mitchell’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. at East End Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
